Lamezia train station

Ciao tutti,

Does anyone know if there are taxi's waiting at Lamezia train station?
How long would it take from the train station to the airport if walkings?

Hi Melanie - have been roaming different sites (yeah, must get a life any day now!) to try and get an answer and have ended up sending an email to the Lamezia town site - with a couple of other questions - so will post it when and if I hear. In my virtual travels (sad but interesting!) I found out a couple of things. Excuse if it's stuff everybody knows but just in case there are others like me - There's a steam train trip going around the Sila done by Ferrovia della Calabria. Will find out more next time we go as it sound really good. Ferrovia della Calabria are sort of based on Cosenza and Catanzaro and they do buses from those stations right to Lamezia airport. There are plenty of trains from Scalea to Cosenza so don't know if that would be a solution for anyone (you?). Have still got to check if their stations are the same as the FS ones (before anyone tries it and finds they're 5 miles apart or something!). Curious why you're not getting the bus Scalea - Lamezia - horrrors, have they stopped it?

Yes, there is a taxi rank right outside Lamezia Train Station. Turn left as you go out and it's right there. It takes ten to fifteen min by taxi (depending on the driver) and costs 10 Euro, which is actually quite high.

To walk would take anything from 20 to 45 min and there is no footpath so it would be very unsafe to walk.

There is a service bus which goes from the station to the airport, but I do not know how often it leaves.

There was no bus service from Scalea to Lamezia this summer. But you could get a bus right outside Lamezia Airport to Cosenza and the Autolinea No 7 runs from Cosenza to Scalea at least once an hour.
