I've just returned today from Scalea, had a lovely week, the weather has turned and the Italian summer is now just starting (so I was told by one of the bar owners).

I couldnt agree more with your comments Claire,

We were caught in the mother of all thunder storms on sunday night where I had to run from La Playa up to the second Piazza of Centro Storico to pick up our car so that our two year old son didnt drown in his pram.
I've left my mobile in the house and my sons portable DVD player in the hire car (spent half of the afternoon on the phone to Hertz Napoli where amazingly they have found it) and thats before I even talk about queing at check in for nearly two hours (the baggage conveyors were broke AGAIN) and a one hour delay sat on the tarmac waiting for some latecomers whilst listening to some BRITS abroad on the plane moaning on about their human rights ( I kid you not) but I am not going to allow this to detract from a great holiday.
Although reading this it sounds like our week was one disaster after another..lol.

We can't wait to go back in July and its things like this that stop me taking life too seriously...

Piano piano.. Domani Domani.

Ciao a tutti
I think its a great idea to post new photos but as I don't have any ,I've decided to post some old ones that haven't yet been posted in the album.I think you may have to go to my link to view them ( not sure about this one). Anyway, ciao for now.

Ciao a tutti
I had the same problem with my phots , with most of them coming in around the 3mb size, so I downloaded Picasa3 from google(it's free) and used that to downsize..It was a breeze.

Default Photo Group on Flickr

Claire,

I started a group on Flickr about Scalea so you can put some of your own photos there. I have a lot more to put on but there are just three at the moment.

Great idea and so easy to add to! I've added a few of mine.

Maybe Lesley or another admin will add a permanent link to this flickr group somewhere on forum?

I am somewhat confused how do you get such detail because wen I look at the properties and the no of bites and size are small. I have photos of 5 mb that have nowhere near that intensity of colour and impact. Is it just poor lens or is it that I am just a useless click and go photographer and just artistically challenged.

Thanks for the shots I don't know if I will add to them, mine just pale into insignificance.

ciao

John
John,

Don't worry about the quality, that can be all sorts to be honest. Yes I do have some good equipment which makes a difference but you can still get great shots with a 'brownie' as we used to say. Most cameras today can produce fantastic quality and if you upload or send them to me I will be most happy to make constructive comments. That is what Flickr is all about and Scalea deserves to be there as well I think.
If I remeber right the first three I put up were taken about 4 or 5 year ago with my 6Mb Minolta SLR. I might have downsized them for flickr although now they don't mind anymore. I have uploaded a couple more today taken a few days ago. If you are in Scalea, get in touch and will go on a photoshoot together.

Francis

Claire,

Thanks for you comments. I am pleased with that photo because it was taken handheld and somehow seemed to have avoided shake. It was taken some years ago on the feast of Santa Maria Lauro. The church is just before you get to the town centre in Via Lauro of course.

I have put up a couple photos while I am here and if I get time, will dig out more.

Francis
