Default walking groups in scalea

Does anyone know if there are any walking groups in Scalea or vicinity. I love walking and would very much like to join a walking group. Is there a version of the Ramblers in Italy. Would appreciate some info as we'll be off to Scalea in May for a month so must find lots to do.

We may just have to start one.
Doug and I love to hike and will be in Scalea at the end of May. After January we will be there full time. Sounds like a great idea. We are interested in hiking in the Parco Nazionale but also around the coast to find secluded beaches.

I'm sure lots of people would be interested.I would be if the walking wasn't too strenuous and steep!

Smile Walking

Yes, I love walking and easy trekking; particularly near water for an occasional cool off. I will be over mid May so perhaps we can set a date and area for an exploratory forage.

In March my husband and I walked towards waterfall in Orsomorso which was nice, quiet and had benefit of woods and river. Did however get a tick come for dinner and it necessitated local anaesthetic and cutting his head out to get rid of. Not nice. So be prepared and have appropriate first aid measures for this not so nice visitor.

Default Ticks

Hi Helena,
Hope to walk with you in May if you're still there.

There's a new recipe around here for ticks in humans. Saturate a cotton ball, or other soft absorbant cloth, with liquid dish soap. Cover the tick for a minute or more and it's supposed to back right out.

Default Walking Groups

It is good to know there are others with similar interests. I have been checking the net for any local (Italian groups) who might know the area better than us but cannot find anything. I intend to check out the Outdoor activities place in town when I get there. In the meantime will stay in touch once I get to Scalea.

Regarding ticks in particular, without raising any alarms, it is good to be on alert for similar nasty bites. Check out this out relating to Lyme disease .

Francis
