Hi All

I am in Scalea from 22nd April until the 7th May and will miss the two games against Arsenal. Does anyone have any suggestions as to where I could watch the games live. Last year I spent an hour, or so, sat in the hire car parked in San Nicole listening to five live. It was the best reception I could find.

Perhaps Tony could tell me if any of the bars show live Champions league and perhaps premier league football for the run in to the quadruple.

Hi John,

We were in Scalea last year when the champions league was on, I think there were 2 places showing it. The pub called (I think) Sold Out which is near the post office (again I think!) and there was a bar in the town maybe near the music shop. I realise my information is vague but I am not good with names and directions in the UK so not much chance with Italy!

I am sure Tony will point you in the right direction.

We are flying in and out of Rome for the first time in May, I understand it is rather a long way! We have a 1030am flight on return and we are trying to decide whether to stay near the airport overnight or get up very early and drive. What are peoples experience of this trip and which is the best route?

Hi John

I was going to suggest 'Sold Out' as the most likely place to show the games. It is situated in via Europa. Via Europa runs from opposite the Hotel Taleo on Corso Mediterrano up to the intersection with via Fume Lao. It then becomes another road between Fume lao and via Lauro (which totally confused me when I was trying to find the bar previously). At the next intersection with Via lauro the road continues as Via Europa. Bar Sold Out is a couple of hundred yards up on the left. Alternatively, at the top of the pedestrianised area in the town centre take the right hand fork, carry straight on for a couple of hundred yards to the next intersection and Via Europa is on the left.They also serve food. It isn't the cheapest place in Scalea but when footie demands we sometimes have to make sacrifices as I keep trying to tell Kath.

Hi John,

We were over in San Nicola Arcella last week and watched the Chelsea v Liverpool match in Bar Crawford which is situated just before entering the old town it is just near the car park you mentioned. They were also going to show the Arsenal match the next night but we were flying home that night. They usually have all the football on in that bar in the better weather they have large screens outside. My husband watched Italy win the world cup on the screens outside the bar. They also serve some nice food.

Some of the staff speak good english and are very nice. Unfortunately the locals seemed to be supporting Chelsea and I was supporting Liverpool although I am a Arsenal fan, but it was a friendly atmostphere.

Were in Scalea for the last Champions league matches. Because there are no Italian teams there was no problem both nights, the bar, can't place the name tonight but was really pleased to have us both nights. Its the one on the pedestrian precinct, first on the left after Carpisa. You can watch it inside and out, smokers corner and they are very accommodating, Il Corsaro also has it but its more of a restaurant. We will be there for final and wehope Arsenal will be there but either ways that' where we will be!
