Driving from Naples airport to Scalea

Hello all,
We would like to introduce ourselves as Jackie, Paul and baby Ben (14mth old), we bought an apt last year on Parco Meridiana together with our friends Jane & Simon.
I will say how informative and friendly this forum site is and hope someone would help with some top tips on driving from Naples airport?. The few times we have visited has been from Lamezia Terme, and now taking advantage of the Easyjet flights from Liverpool-Naples!
I would like to say Hi to John & Lynn whom we met last year when we did all the signing and hope to see you again in June (3rd-12th) if you are there?
If anybody is going within the nxt few months would it be possible to take some photos of the site? As none of us have been out there since July/August and June this year will be the first visit back! Far too long if you ask me!!
I hope the swimming pool will be up and running as it is a bit of a concern at the moment, and with Pino honouring the site snag list around the easter period? Please keep us posted anyone!
P.s We planted a lemon tree at the back, hows it going? any lemons forming yet? Just waiting for a good Gin & Tonic!!!

Hi Jackie

Are you the Jackie who has the Ground floor apartment next to the front carpark, if so we met you when you were waiting for your truck loaded with furniture to arrive last year, we were just leaving at the time.

We are out there again in April and again towards the end of June, so we may bump into you again.

We purchased a lemon tree, but didn't have time to plant it, so we left it in the pot in the granddaughters baby bath on the balcony. Hope it's flourishing.

We have never driven from Naples Airport, but have passed close to it a few times, doesn't seem a problem, the only hassle you may have is the motorway south A3 from the airport, that section of motorway in Naples gets very busy, but once you pass Salerno the only problem you'll have then is the ongoing never-ending roadworks. As John says turn off at Lagonegro, 23 miles from there is Scalea.

We were last out there at the end of September last year & February this year, pool was green, car park unfinished and work had started on the two "villas"

Hi Jackie, we will be in Scalea on 9th June to 26th. If you check out the members calender you can see who is going to be there then. That is if people have filled it in yet. We must mmet up at Bar Pier for a drink.

Hi we have an appartment on Parco Meridiana Block B ground floor Bob & Pat.

We will be over mid May for 3 weeks and will post pictures on our return. Driving is fine from Naples as signposting is great but you could print off Michelin route as they list all turns , speed cameras and tolls payable.

Thanks for the info Bob & Pat i don't think we have met yet, but sure we will, the photos will be great when you go! By the way i have noticed you live in Shropshire that is where we used to live north Shropshire but now live in Southport, Merseyside. All our family and friends still live there.
I haven't thought about the toll charges on the motorway,
How much change approx will i need? Does anyone know?

Credit card is easiest wat to pay . Press for ticket at toll point when you enter and pay when you exit. Put your ticket in first and your fee will appear then put yor card in. We live near Newport Shrops and hope to visit 3/4 times a year to Scalea. We drove last year and are doing the same this May its great . We are staying in some fantastic places on way at very reasonable prices. Hope to meet you sometime.

Hi to all

Using credit card on A1 very easy just look above toll booths for the one that that takes "cardo credito" it costs about E12.40 ish from Rome, the first time we used it was a bit un-nerving as the machine seems to snatch your card and you don't have to put any pin numbers in - but have used few times now - no problem. If you use Nationwide or Post Office there isn't any euro commission charges and when we used in Feb got 1.14 when everywhere else was about 1.08. Every little bit helps?

We are going over two weeks today (not that I am counting) first time using British Airways to Rome maybe interesting to see difference between BA and Ryan Air!!!

just thought I would gate crash this thread, I have just noticed where you all live and it really is a small world, I live in a place called Much Hoole between Preston and Southport Jackie so we live only about 10 miles away from you dependant on whereabouts in Southport you are from, we too have a toddler boy (Raif) who has just turned two.

The oddest thing is that i work all over Shropshire and I am currently sat in our office in Oswestry so i am only a few mles away from where Jane/Simon and Bob/Pat live.

We are in Scalea for a week in May then two in July, we will look out for you all. We will be the ones running after our little whirlwind. lol

Just wondering as we are from the North West, which way do you go to Scalea? Stanstead or Manchester/Liverpool?

Hi jackie. We are usually in Liverpool before we leave for Scalea. In the past we have flown Ryanair to Rome and have driven down. Now Easyjet are flying from Liverpool to Naples we are giving that a go in June. A much easier drive.
