Default Baby Equipment

Do any of you know where baby equipment can be purchased in the Scalea area? We will need a travel cot at Easter and are considering buying one to leave in the apartment, rather than bringing one over with us. I know that Interspar sell just about everything, but I cannot recall seeing large items of baby equipment there.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Markel

Hi Markel

I believe that you can get them from above the Spar. We picked one up for about 35 Euro, although this was before they had their refurb, but it is definitley worth checking there.

Regards

Andy

I've got a travel cot and various other bits of baby equipment that have been kindly donated by other forum members.
Available for anyone to borrow whilst they are over.

Thanks Lesley. I will speak to my daughter ( mother of the baby). I am sure she would be delighted to get a cot on loan. We will be in Scalea from 6th to the 18th April. We will have a car, so can collect and return anything we borrow.
Thanks Andy for your information re baby equipment in the Spar.
Now, has anyone any advice on how to keep a 4-year old away from the balcony railings in a second floor apartment!
Thanks,
Markel

Default 4 year olds

Hi Markel

If your 4 year old is anthing like our two 4 year old grandchildren you have no chance, except to be present at its side 24/7. They might not have encountered this type of barrier before by they will have surely seen how Spongebob, Ben 10, Spiderman, Horrid Henry or any of the other cartoon characters have overcome such minor obstacles.

Ciao

John

Default Cot for sale.

Hi Markel,

We actualy have a cot that we are wanting to sell in our house, we bought it brand new in Italy as our little boy just couldnt sleep properly in a travel cot, he has just gone into a bed at home so when we are over in May we will be buying him a little bed to sleep on rather than staying in his cot.

The cot we bought is very dark wood (walnut colour) with sliding drawers underneath and does look lovely, it is basically brand new as our son has only stayed in it for a total of approx 12 weeks since we bought it 18 months ago.

We looked for a cot bed as this is what we bought for him in England but no avail.

I do not have any photos unfortunately as we havent been over to Scalea since last September.

Paul,Laura and Raif Campbell.

Hello Paul, Laura and Raif,
Thank you for your posting. The cot you describe sounds lovely, but the baby involved is not my son, but my grandson. He could quite possibly be an adult before my daughter is prepared to face the journey from Rome again, even as a passenger, and I would then have the problem of trying to store it.
We are therefore looking for something much more temporary, and are interested in taking Lesley up on her kind offer to loan us a travel cot. (Sorry to hear about your accident Lesley - those Italian drivers!). If Lesley's cot is unavailable, then we will try Despar. That is the plan at the moment, anyway.
I'm not so sure you should be selling your cot anyway - what will babies 2,3 and 4 sleep in?
Regards, and thanks again,
Markel

Mi Markel,

When we sell the cot we will be letting him sleep on the floor....lol.

No he is now in a cotbed at home and so to put him back in a cot in Italy may ruin his routine and so we will be buying a small kids bed to go in the house, luckily we have enough room for the bed, but don't want to have the two of them in the house for too long.

If anyone else is interested in buying a cot then please let me know.

Paul.

Would any of you know if the local stores in Scalea have Cow & Gate baby foods in stock, particularly their infant formula.
Apparantly the pack weighs a kilo, which is a lot when your Ryanair baggage allowance is just 15 kilos. It would be great if we could purchase it locally.

Thanks,
Markel

Hi

Cow and Gate is not available in Scalea. The only forumla available in both counties is Aptamil.

Hope that helps

Melanie

Hi Melanie,
Thank you very much for that information.
Apparantly my grandson has been reared on the Cow & Gate product, but
at least we have some time to adjust him to Aptamil before we go.
Alternatively, my daughter will simply have to bring his regular formula with her.

Thanks again,
Markel

Hi Markel,

to get round this problem when we took our son for the first year we took out sachets of formula, they were brilliant and so lightweight to carry in your case, you can also buy the reqady made formula in cartons for theplane and car journey.

Paul.
