Grotto del Romito - Papsidero Grotto del Romito
Although this is usually refered to as being in Papsidero the grotto is actually about 13km from the town but is well sign-posted and is a large cavern that contains fabulous stalagmites and stalagtites..
In the Grotto there is some of the oldest evidence to the presence of man in Calabria.
The interesting graffito representing a primitive ox dates back to the Upper Palaeolithic period and there are also human skeletons that are believed to be over 10,000 years old.
One of the skeletons is believed to have been pierced by a stone arrow.
