Not sure I understand this one. Do you mean they insist in installing "hob" and "under-counter oven" as separate items, instead of a whole unit containing both? If so, I'm sure you asked them why but, did you understand the reply?

Do you mean the "kick-plate" at the bottom of a cupboard run? Or, brickwork plus tile around cabinets? If the answer to the first question is "YES", clap the guys over the ears with a couple of tiles. I've seen that kind of stuff in kitchens since I was a kid. On the other hand, if the answer to the second question is "YES" then, take a look at the
Benvenuto Mobili s.r.l. web site. They make almost exactly that: they call it "muratura". Admittedly it has no tiles but, adding those should not be a major obstacle. Unless they don't want the bother to cut tiles to size, find an appropriate adhesive and do the grouting.

Huh!? Serious!? We're paying, on average, 100 Euros per msq for granite alone, down here! Try to find out their source of marble, PLEASE! Unless .... I can't find the links to the relevant web sites now but ... I have come across such a thing as "synthetic marble" (this is not melamine sheets coloured to a marble pattern, mind you). Could it be what they are planning to use for the counters?
